Disease Gene Mapping Using Pooled DNA Experiments

Abstract

In the post-genome era, genetic/genomic dissection using genetic marker data has became an important tool for identifying disease susceptibility genes underlying complex disorders. In this talk, a comprehensive overview of pooled DNA experiments for disease gene mapping is provided. Our proposed five-stage study design consisting of adjustment for preferential amplification, estimation of important parameters, single locus and multilocus linkage disequilibrium mapping is introduced. The strengths/weaknesses and the potential directions of pooled DNA analyses will be addressed.
