Abstract
In this talk, I will give various methods of estimation for the subset selection problem based on mutual information (MI) developed by others and by myself. The contents of the lecture will cover the following topics. 1. Information theory and MI. 2. Subset selection based on MI. 3. Methods of MI estimation and the problems associated with them. 4. Data visualization approach to the problems. 5. Visual assessment model for subset selection.
