Abstract

Support vector machine (SVM) is a new and promising technique for data classification and regression. In this talk we will briefly introduce its basic concepts from a computer scientist's point of view. We then discuss its theoretical backgrounds from statistical learning theory. Our research on designing and implementing SVM algorithms and software will be emonstrated. Finally we will mention some existing applications on data mining and bioinformatics.
