Abstract

In this talk we will introduce a haplotype-based ( or generalized version) algorithm -----Backward Haplotype Transmission Association (BHTA) Algorithm , to address the current issues in the area of association mapping, dealing with complex traits. The proposed algorithms intend to select a small set of interesting and "important" markers from a very large set of markers throughout the genome. The mechanism of the algorithms will be presented and its performance will be demonstrated by a number of examples, including one real data set with 31 markers for a study on the Tourette syndrome. If time permits, we shall outline how to apply the method to expression data analysis. This talk is based on joint works with Tian Zheng and Hui Wang.
