Abstract

Conventional approaches to therapeutics development are effective for identifying drug treatments which work on average for a population of patients similar to those on whom it was tested. For treatment of debilitating diseases, such as, cancer treatments, this often entails treating the many for the benefit of the few. In this talk, we will provide clinical trial designs and analysis strategies for the utilization of genomic signatures for patient stratification in therapeutics development. Effective use of such signatures can lead to substantial improvements in the efficiency of drug development, and to major increases in the proportion of treated patients who benefit from the drug.
