On Some Constants Arising in Discrete Probability

Abstract

The computation of the variance of the number of maxima in hypercubes led naturally to harmonic sums whose ordinary generating functions are polylogarithmic functions. We present, in this talk, a full asymptotic expansion of harmonic sums and the exact expression of their constant terms, the tools being based on the algebra of polyzetas.
