Abstract

Big data has entered the main stream of statistical community.??In translational medicine, voluminous data have been routinely generated.?The advance of genomic assay technologies has allowed researchers to collect various molecular measurements, such as gene expression, DNA methylation, microRNA expression, copy number variation and so on. Different measurements provide the new possibilities of discovering the biosignatures for early detection, predicting treatment responses and patients’ survivals.??Collaborating with domestic genomic researchers,??we are in the process of building up a comprehensive database for??facilitating the study of non–small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in Taiwan.?In this talk, I will?first present how we incorporate the?newest information technology development and rapidly-involving biotechnology?to build up our computation?infrastructure to meet?the demand of speed and storage demand. Then I will describe?our discovery of gene signature for NSCLC patients, the use in targeted therapy, and the statistical analysis employed in these studies.??Ongoing works using new generation sequencing techniques?will also be discussed.?
