Abstract

Do you have to know the details of how a specific algorithm is implemented in Matlab? Have you reported a bug in Maple some time ago which is still not solved? Your licence for Mathematica expired and there is no money left for a new one? ???? ?I am sorry, I cannot change this, but there is an alternative: The mathematics software system SageMath. ???? ?It is free, open-source and many mathematicians, statisticians and computer scientists contribute to its peer-reviewed code base. This means that you can solve the problems above by yourself (or you do not have them at all)! ????? In this talk, I give a short introduction to SageMath by demonstrating how to answer mathematical questions from several different fields using SageMath. The problems will come from number theory, graph theory, statistics, theoretical computer science, etc., and illustrate the unified way in which SageMath is applicable to many different areas.
