Abstract

Understanding how pathogens spread is essential for developing effective intervention methods for infectious disease control. Motivated by the need to understand disease transmission, Hsiao-Han's work includes developing new analytical methods in the field of infectious diseases, especially pathogen genomics and human mobility, and applying the newly developed methods to important pathogens in Taiwan and other countries, such as dengue virus, influenza virus, SARS-CoV-2, malaria parasites, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In this talk, she will show examples of how genomics and mathematical models can be used to understand pathogen spread and evolution and how these understandings can help with disease control.
