Abstract

The main discussion will be on the Normal distribution, the most popular and useful one, and some distributions related to it:  Half-normal,  Log-normal, Inverse Gaussian,  Skew-normal,  Log-skew-normal,  Exponential-normal.  Of general interest are properties such as characterization, moment-determinacy, infinite divisibility, comparison. I am going to present a series of well-selected, hopefully interesting results, published over the last decades. Some results are `unknown’ or `relatively known’, others are only `slightly known'. The general goal is everyone to benefit from this talk and make for herself/himself `well-known’ at least some of the results.  Any item will be formulated completely and clearly, with hints and references. Results and methods as those reported, would be useful to anyone working in stochastic modelling. Seven challenging open questions will be formulated,  which may attract the attention of specialists in Applied probability, Theoretical statistics, and their applications. Many of the results included in this talk are obtained jointly with my highly respected co-authors G.D. Lin (Taipei), Ch. Vignat (Paris - New Orleans), A. DasGupta (West Lafayette), S. Ostrovska (Ankara),  and  P. Kopanov (Plovdiv).
